Since November 2024 I have run my own Substack publication, titled 'Q's News'.
This has included a monthly media-based newsletter called 'Take 30', where I recommend music, movies and TV shows based on the past month of releases, social media conversations and my own personal taste.
I also run a more sporadic section called 'The Extended Cut', with longer features covering everything from pop culture and art to my thoughts and opinions on the latest issues within the Journalism industry.
Running Q's News has given me a space to be more experimental with my work, cover a wide variety of issues and meet regular deadlines while building a dedicated following.
Prior to Q's News, (and currently on hiatus,) I started 'Errant Publication'. A Substack dedicated to essays from contributors on a wide range of topics, heavily focused on arts and culture.
To me this was the natural stepping stone between my previous work as the Prose and Personal Essay Eitor of Outlander Zine (2023-3025), Editor of the URY Music blog (2021-2022), and my passion for social commentary.
Since February 2024 I have been a freelance Marketing Consultant for Lemontank, a Gen Z focused thinktank working with brands to connect their content more authentically through social media with younger audiences. This role has seen me work with the likes of Warner Music, Aardman Animations, The National Trust, Parlophone Records, EMI Records and the BBC.
Through these projects, and working with other young creatives, I have learnt a lot about both navigating the digital attention economy, and creating clear and actionable social media campaigns that can then be pitched directly to executives.
I have also used this knowledge across my own social media, which has been particualry insightful given my current work as a Multimedia Reporter, experimenting with short and longform content formats to work out how to most effectively engage with audiences.
